pedar Hardware

The pedar system, novel's in-shoe dynamic pressure measuring system, is an accurate and reliable pressure distribution measuring system for monitoring local loads between the foot and the shoe. The pedar-X offers the ultimate versatility with its multiple standard features and operating modes. The pedar-X can be tethered to a PC via a fiber optic USB cable. It can also function in a mobile capacity with its built-in BluetoothTM technology that is able to communicate with BluetoothTM compatible pocket, notebook, or standard PC's. And, as yet another alternative, the pedar-X has a built-in flash memory storage allowing data to be collected anywhere and later downloaded to the computer.

All of these features make the pedar system extremely mobile and flexible to meet virtually all testing needs such as walking, running, climbing stairs, carrying loads, playing soccer, or even riding a bicycle. Therefore, the results are more relevant to pressures experienced in real life situations.

The pedar system connects to conforming, elastic sensor insoles that cover the whole plantar surface of the foot or sensor pads for the dorsal, medial or lateral areas of the foot. The pedar system allows multiple synchronization options to use with EMG and video systems for gait analysis.

With the aid of the trublu calibration device, all sensors of the pedar system are individually calibrated. Calibration guarantees accurate and reproducible data and can be checked by the user at any time.

loadsol Wireless Force Measuring Insole

The loadsol load monitoring device accurately measures the normal plantar force detected inside the shoe during all static and dynamic activities without disturbing the sensation of the foot. This is the first system to utilize full size textile plantar sensor integrated with compact matchbox size wireless electronics for data processing and transmission. In addition, this is the first system of this size and capability which can accurately measure the plantar force between the foot and the shoe without estimation from other variables such as body weight, acceleration, etc.

One, two or three sensor areas scanned at up to 200 Hz allows the user a more detailed analysis of the force loading under the foot. The smartphone app has options to provide auditory, visual or vibratory feedback based on the force. Parameters such as peak force, cadence, loading rate, contact time and symmetry are also displayed in the app. The data can be stored inside the smartphone or also on the cloud and later be transferred to a PC software for analysis of the data. Alternatively, the Windows loadpad analysis software can be used for a comprehensive analysis of loadsol data. ASCII output is also available.

pedar posturography System

Standing balance is defined as the state, in a quiet stance, of maintaining or controlling the position and the momentum of the whole body’s center of mass within the base of support (limit of stability) without falling posturography quantifies this standing balance, or postural control.

Computerized dynamic posturography (CDP), also called test of balance (TOB), is a non-invasive, specialized, assessment technique used to quantify the central nervous system’s adaptive mechanisms (sensory, motor and central) involved in the control of posture and balance, both in healthy (such as in physical education and sports training) and pathological conditions (particularly in the diagnosis of balance disorders). Due to the a complex interactions among sensory, motor, and also central processes involved in posture and balance, CDP requires different protocols in order to differentiate among the many defects and impairments which may affect the patient's posture control system.

The pedar posturography system utilizes the pedar hardware and a range of sensor layouts to assess postural control.  The pedar posturography system measures the localized loading information, therefore providing feedback on what aspects of the foot are being recruited during the tests of balance.

Synchronization Hardware

Both wired and wireless synchronization is available for the pedar system. The wireless synchronization device allows untethered synchronization with other measurement systems such as motion capture, EMG, video, etc.
