novel and National Biomechanics Day are proud to announce this year's MOVE WITH FORCE loadsol® pro NBD Contest Winner:
Brandon Peoples, Auburn Univerisity School of Kinesiology, with the title: “What's the 'Dill' with Pickleball”!
Thank you again to all the contest participants and to our external review panel.
We had an increase in abstracts this year from 8 different countries! This goes to show how important the (Inter)National Biomechanics Day is to the entire world! We applaud everyone's effort in sharing biomechanics principles with the next generation. The applications were very unique and did a great job of highlighting how we can integrate motion with force, by collecting with different populations, within new/underrepresented geographical areas, and in unique settings.
We look forward to the NBD events and also to seeing the inspiring loadsol® applications submitted for the contest come to fruition in the future!

In continuing our partnership, novel and National Biomechanics Day are proud to announce this year's loadsol® pro contest for (Inter)National Biomechanics Day on April 3, 2024!
novel is accepting a 1-page abstract on how you would utilize the loadsol pro in conjunction with a 6-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU) with accelerometer and gyroscope to measure in-shoe force and movement of the foot or ankle. The project can be in any field and with any population; the only requirement is innovation!
The winner will receive THREE pairs of loadsol® pro (any layout/size).
A full description of the loadsol® pro and its features, capabilities, and insole layouts may be found here.
Contest details: Abstracts will be accepted until midnight EST Tuesday, March 5th. The recipient will be awarded based on the merit and originality of his/her/their abstract on these TWO criteria: 1) implementation and use of loadsol synced with IMU using innovative ideas, and 2) a brief description of their NBD 2024 event including the use of loadsol to teach biomechanics concepts. The winner will be chosen by March 15th and 3 pairs of loadsol pros (size and layout of recipient’s choosing) will be shipped for implementation prior to NBD.
What are we looking for? Some thoughts: IMUs are used in many consumer products like phones, fitness trackers, and wearables to measure and track movement. What groundbreaking application would you utilize loadsol® pro to measure and analyze movement and force data simultaneously? The electronics housing is normally looped around shoe laces, but the lead from the insole to the housing allows for flexible placement on the ankle or shin as well. Be imaginative, but realistic and innovative. The data collected could be used clinically, or for research, or for sports science/performance. The possibilities are endless when you MOVE WITH FORCE!
Questions and submissions may be directed to novelinc@novelusa.com.
