As in all physical measuring systems, the most important component is the sensor technology. pliance® works with novel’s capacitive transducers in a matrix configuration. The elasticity of the sensor mats permits conformability to 3-dimensional deformations.
The pressure transducer elements contain high-tech elastomers manufactured by novel. The restoring force, range of force, threshold, hysteresis, temperature effect, frequency response and other characteristics are determined during the manufacturing process.
This makes it possible to adapt the sensor characteristic to different measuring needs. The elastic measuring mats are available in various sizes, sensor configurations and pressure ranges.
The pliance® analyzers vary from 16×16 (pliance®-xf-16) and 32×32 (pliance®-xf-32) channel mobile units to 32×64 channel table devices (pliance®-fti and pliance®-ftd) with a wide range of options, such as master-slave synchronization of several systems, dynamic amplification control, and synchronization of video systems.
novel has developed an analyzer technology that allows not only individual calibration curves for each sensor, but also individual dynamic amplification control and crosstalk suppression, resulting in very accurate and reproducible pressure values.
The pliance® analyzer communicates with the PC via fiber optic/USB interface; the pliance®-xf analyzer communicates also via Bluetooth® and contains data-logging capabilities with SD card storage.
With the the aid of the trublu® calibration device all sensors of the pliance® system are individually calibrated. Calibration guarantees accurate and reproducible data and can be checked on-site by the user at any time.
With the pliance® Expert software users can have access to the raw pressure and force data for use in their own analysis programs. Alternatively, the pliance® data can be analyzed with the novel scientific software.
The pliance® Recorder software option allows automatic synchronization between the pressure data and digital video collected to the same computer. This provides easy and immediate synchronized playback of the pressure and video data. This is very useful in providing feedback on the movement(s) which are being performed.
Other versions of the pliance® software are also available for special applications.

pliance sensors have been developed in for a variety of applications and include different sizes, shapes, resolutions and measurement ranges. As in all physical measuring systems the most important aspect is the sensor technology. pliance works with capacitive transducers in a matrix configuration. The elasticity of the sensor permits perfect conformability to three-dimensional deformations. The pressure transducer elements contain high-tech elastomers manufactured by novel. Restoring force, range of force, threshold, hysteresis, temperature effect, frequency response, and other characteristics are determined during the manufacturing process. This makes it possible to adapt the sensor characteristic to different measuring needs.
At novel, our priority is to enable the highest quality in measurement and we strongly believe in art in science.
